About Us

I got my first Irish Setter in 1972 from my Aunt who moved here from Belfast Ireland along with her Mom and Dad and 8 brothers and sisters which included my dad. I am first generation born here in the states. I was in to pheasant hunting which was why I got my first Irish Setter. I bred my own dogs so I always had three at home.  In 1995 I met Jeanette Holmes who tried to get me interested in dog shows while we bred a couple litters. I went to a couple shows but was not interested. In 2003 I contacted Jeanette about getting a puppy as I had just lost a dog and had nothing to breed at the time. Like I said I have always had three at a time so I was on the hunt. It was then I got a puppy who became Am & Int’L Ch Estrella Pop Music Star ROM “Shanteal” I would then breed Shanteal to Am/Can/Int'L Ch MiJeans I Fooled Ya ROM "Fooler" and on August 31, 2006 she would have her first litter of 14 which is my Estrella “Time” litter bred by Shadowney Irish Setters. 7 of the TIME have finished their Championships and others have Rally, Obedience and Hunt titles. In June of 2009 Shanteal blessed me with another litter of 14. This litter was out of Ch Rockherin Freedom Rings "JJ x Ch Estrella Pop Music Star ROM "Shanteal". This litter is the HIGH litter and carries the Shadowney name and is off to a very fast start just like the TIME litter. Right out of the gate they are picking up Majors from the puppy classes, getting placements at the ISCA National and going Best In Sweeps at Specialties and also a Best In Specialty with several finished champions. When breeding our priority is health first. Finding them good loving forever homes is next on our list. This is done through a screening process which includes filling out a questionnaire and allowing us to do a home check to make sure the puppy is going to a safe home. If the puppy gets shown or gets to do obedience, agility, rally or therapy work that is considered a bonus.
